Day 6 - What is your Myers Briggs personality?

Well first of all, I obviously have to state that the Myers-Briggs is by no means scientific. It is not a valid or reliable measure of personality type. I have nothing against it as an amusing way to pass time, but I roll my eyes pretty hard when I see people get so enthused about their Myers-Briggs type that they dedicate their lives/blogs to explaining their personality type to everyone around them.

My result for the test is INFP

As there are a million different descriptions for what it means to be an INFP, I’m just going to steal the Wikipedia description and call it good:

INFPs tend to be quiet and reserved. They generally prefer interacting with a few close friends rather than a wide circle of acquaintances, and they expend energy in social situations

INFPs tend to be more abstract than concrete. They focus their attention on the big picture rather than the details, and on future possibilities rather than immediate realities.

INFPs tend to value personal considerations above objective criteria. When making decisions, they often give more weight to social implications than to logic.

INFPs tend to withhold judgment and delay important decisions, preferring to “keep their options open” should circumstances change.

So yeah. I don’t put much stock in these types of personality tests, because of the low statistical evidence they have. I feel like it’s one of those things where the descriptions are intentionally vague enough that anyone can read it and be like “Oh yeah, that’s definitely me”. Like fortune cookies or astrology.
